Publishing Pathway

With PublishU, your book will move from manuscript submission to global publication in just 100 days. Our 12 step Publishing Pathway provides a clear and structured journey that takes your manuscript from contract to publication with expert guidance at every stage.

From the moment you join, you will be part of a private author chat group, where you can ask questions, stay connected with the team and always know exactly where your book is in the publishing process. Each step moves your book steadily towards publication.

Step 1. Contracting: We agree your manuscript submission date and corresponding global publication date 100 days later. Once your publishing contract and 50 percent deposit are completed, your publication date is secured.

Step 2. Manuscript Submission: You submit your manuscript following our simple guidance, together with your author questionnaire and photograph. We immediately review your submission and confirm everything is ready to move forward.

Step 3. Cover Design: Your assigned cover designer creates two or three creative directions based on your ideas and positioning. Together we refine the design until your book has a cover you are proud of.

Step 4. Cover Sign Off: You approve the final cover design as ready for print and publication.

Step 5. Editing: Your assigned editor introduces themselves and begins working on your manuscript. Most authors choose a professional copy edit to strengthen clarity and flow. If you want deeper structural feedback, you may also choose an optional developmental edit.

Step 6. Proofreading: Your edited manuscript is professionally proofread and then checked by a second proofreader to ensure accuracy and polish.

Step 7. Manuscript Sign Off: You review and approve your final manuscript as ready for typesetting.

Step 8. Typesetting: Your manuscript is professionally typeset for paperback format, with the option of a hardback edition. Your book now begins to look and feel like a finished publication.

Step 9. Kindle Formatting: Your book is formatted for Kindle ebook distribution, ensuring it reads perfectly on digital devices worldwide.

Step 10. Audiobook Creation: Your manuscript is prepared for audiobook production using a professional virtual voice, with the option to record the audiobook in your own voice.

Step 11. Publication Sign Off: You review the final typeset book and approve it as ready for publication.

Step 12. Global Publication: Your book is published worldwide in three formats Paperback, Kindle ebook and Audiobook for Audible. You also have the option to publish a hardback edition. Your book is now available globally.‍

Publishing your book is only the beginning. PublishU helps you launch your book into the world and position you as the authority behind it. Every author receives a suite of marketing support designed to build visibility, credibility and momentum.

📈 Pre publication landing page: A dedicated page to collect the names and email addresses of readers interested in your book before publication.

🌐 Author and book webpage: A professionally designed page on the PublishU website introducing you, your book and your message.

🎧 Podcast interview: A featured conversation about you, your author story and your book distributed on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

📺 Video interview: A filmed interview published on the PublishU YouTube channel.

Marketing My Book (Optional)

Many authors find that the hardest part of marketing is maintaining momentum after publication. The Marketing My Book Programme provides six months of structure, support and accountability to help you consistently promote your book. The programme includes:

🎯 Six month marketing action plan: A marketing action plan with recommended weekly tasks that can be completed in around one hour per week.

Sales and Royalties

Retail sales of your book generate author royalties of approximately 35% of the cover price. This percentage may vary slightly depending on the book format, the use of colour images, the country of purchase and foreign exchange rates.

PublishU applies a standard 5% agency fee on the book’s cover price in relation to royalties. Your 35% author margin remains protected. You receive sales and royalty statements twice a year (31st January and 31st July).

Delivery of retail orders in most developed countries typically takes 24 to 48 hours.

Authors can purchase wholesale copies of their own book and generate a margin of 60% of the cover price. If your book contains colour images, this discount may vary slightly due to production costs.

Author copies are ordered through PublishU at the time of publication and thereafter up to once per month. Delivery of wholesale orders is typically within 14 days.

When you publish with PublishU, you become a lifetime member of the Global Authors Club. This is an international community of more than 100 authors from around the world who have published through PublishU and continue to support one another long after their books are released.

As a member, you are part of a private author's community where ideas are shared, questions are answered and encouragement is always close at hand. You will also be invited to regular online gatherings where authors exchange marketing ideas, share what is working and learn how to grow the reach and impact of their books.
