Max had always known that there are secrets about his family and his past: things that just didn’t quite make sense. But when fourteen-year-old Max wakes up in the night and hears a mysterious conversation and then finds a strange stone object and his grandfather dead, he is suddenly and inextricably transported to another world with a tangled web of secrets stranger and more astonishing than he could ever have imagined.
